Description

Lagoon Nebula in H-alpha

------------------------

The Lagoon Nebula is a massive star-forming cloud of ionized insterstellar gas, surrounding a star cluster.

The radiation from the young massive stars in the cluster ionizes the gas and causes the emission, making it visible.

It is located 5,200 light-years away and spans 110x50 light-years across.

This image was created with 7 hours of Hydrogen-alpha data I collected in July 2020.

------------------------

Total imaging time: 7 hours in Hydrogen-alpha only

Telescope: Sky-Watcher Evostar ED80 Black Diamond
