NGC 225 - Sailboat Star Cluster - aka Man behind Kangaroo (inofficial)

Besides the usual techniques, I enhanced the blue channel by using MMT after LRGBCombination in PixInsight, and then blended R with the weak Ha signal.

The spikes were added to the stars that belong to the open star cluster - in total 17 hand picked.

I'm amazed how many small stars captured in this TOA130 FOV, as if it is integrated against the FSQ106 one.

Personally I find it quite abstract to relay the target to a sail boat. I guess the blue part is the sail and the blue, yellow stars form the boat. Then I'd think the milky background would be the vast sea with endless waves and adventures.

My 9 yr old suggested turning the head towards right and the blue sail becomes a kangaroo and someone in black pushing it hard from behind. I can't say no to that. Enjoy!

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
