ATRIA Team composed of 6 members : Olivier, Fabien , Frédéric . David , Julien , and myself ;-)

NGC 6744 is an intermediate spiral galaxy about 30 million light-years away in the constellation Pavo. It is considered as a Milky Way mimic in our immediate vicinity, displaying flocculent (fluffy) arms and an elongated core. It also has at least one distorted companion galaxy (NGC 6744A) superficially similar to one of the Magellanic Clouds. It was discovered from Parramatta in Australia by Scottish astronomer James Dunlop on 30 June 1826.

NGC 6744 lies within the Virgo Supercluster.

The CDK17" gives a lot of details, I kept only 337 subs from 477 taken in Luminance with FWHM below 2.65" .
It is the work to get nice and fine details !

And finally, I selected the 45 subs with FWHM better than 1.8" which give fine details of the center of the galaxy.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
