Description

This object is a galaxy group located 270 million light years away in the constellation of Taurus at a declination of +23 degrees. I have included an annotated image to assist in understanding the description below. All of these galaxies lie a similar distance away from us. I could find no detailed information about any of these galaxies.

NGC 1497 is the brightest galaxy at upper right. It spans 2 arc-minutes in our apparent view, which corresponds to a large diameter of 150,000 light years. It appears to be a lenticular galaxy with extended star streams.

The galaxy at upper left is UGC 2927. Its structure is fascinating - a smaller spiral galaxy with a faint large star stream tail which extends for 360 degrees completely around.

Interestingly, the galaxy to the lower left, UGC 2928, is smaller but has also has an extended star stream structure which forms a ring around the galaxy. The galaxy in the lower left corner, MCG+04-10-004, is a blue irregular galaxy.

There appears to be a lot of depth to these galaxy star streams that I will try to bring out with more time in the coming seasons. This is the first image of these galaxies on Astrobin.
