Description

Here is another object I've never imaged before. This is the lovely reflection nebula called NGC 7129 located just over 3000 light years away in the constellation Cepheus. A group of young, hot stars are responsible for lighting up the blue nebula at the center.

Also seen here, showing red within the blue, are some Herbig-Haro objects. These are small patches of nebulosity associated with newly-born stars. As if that wasn't enough, competing with the faint, dark dusty nebulosity, there is a beautiful colourful open cluster of stars in the upper-left quadrant of this image which is known as NGC 7142 which lies about twice the distance from us as does NGC 7129.

The image is a true colour LRGB image consisting of nearly 17 hours of 5 minute exposures. I took this image with my 4" refractor at Pixel Skies Astro in Spain - see details here.
