Description

Revision note: I previously uploaded this new LRGB revision, but hadn’t hit save yet, then decided to wait until I finished the Ha version and deleted it, but somehow the thumbnail (at least) went public….. So, I re-uploaded it since it had already gone out and will follow up with the Ha version later. Anyhow, the revision has luminance data added, which I originally shot just to capture the SN but decided to add it to my previous data and try again at this, my nemesis target.... The lum data was shot at a longer FL and different camera angle, and as I mentioned below, I lost all the green data so had to extract green from the previous RGB to reprocess. Not ideal and got a bit messy, but happier with the galaxy this time; stars not so much.....

Shot during 13 nights between the dates listed. The Pinwheel was actually one of my first targets going on two years ago, but I got the data via iTelescope and wanted to use my own gear on it. A little messy, but big and bright so thought it would be a nice easy one..... Have to admit though, it kinda' kicked my butt.... To start, my attempts at local normalization flattened the nebulosity spilling out from the arms and made the transition between it and the background really harsh, so in the end I gave up on it.....I wanted to incorporate the iTelescope data (since it was so bloody expensive...), but somehow it kept the drizzle files for about half of my own subs from updating during integration and couldn't figure it out, so tossed it......as an experiment, I collected a series of 4s subs to integrate as a reduced and tighter star field, but those subs (or my skills) were too thin to do much with.....and lastly I managed to delete my entire green channel folder!....fortunately I had saved the green integrations to the main folder. Anyhow, here's what limped through at the end....

Cheers,
Scott
