Description

Sh2-9 is a hydrogen Alpha cloud that has immersed in it a B class star. With its immersion in Halpha and this processing the B type star Alnyiat is reddened. This ensemble with M4 makes for a striking and moderately difficult object to image.

There is a deep molecular cloud to the north, left, partially enveloping the Sh2-9 hydrogen emission. There are dim structures in this molecular cloud appearing as darker riffs.

M4 is surrounded dimly by the Halpha nebula and a bit by a molecular cloud that is illuminated by Antares.

This was imaged over several nights using a 6" F/6.45 Melior APO, Astrodon filters RGB and 5nm Ha.
