Description

M94 is a galaxy with an active LINER nucleus. It has two rings in visual light, but UV and IR studies revealed the outer one to be a complex structure of spiral arms. It seems to have a very low dark matter content, challenging our conceptions about how galaxies form. Theories that want to "get rid" of dark matter are even more challenged, though. 

The outer ring is faint. It was a lot of work to get it to show without excessive noise. More data needed...
