Description

NGC 2403 is an intermediate spiral galaxy approximately 8 million light-years away and is around 50,000 light years in across. It contains many star-forming H II regions. The largest being NGC 2404, which is approximately 2000 light-years in diameter, making it one of the largest discovered H II regions in any galaxy. It was originally discovered in 1788 by William Herschel.
