Description

Galaxy season can be hard for those of us with short focal length scopes, like the RedCat. Still, the urge to get out and try something usually overwhelms any sense of futility we might have about shooting distant galaxies that appear as tiny specks in our frames... So it was last night. I sent the RedCat hunting for the Leo Triplet...and found out that the Triplet is indeed, actually a Quadruplet! The tiny (in my image) NGC 3593 lenticular galaxy is sometimes associated with the Leo Triplet, so it must be included in the image!

So, it's a RedCat, they're galaxies, and we shouldn't expect much, but overall I'm very pleased with the outcome. I was surprised by the broad range of color and detail present in those galaxies and--although I lost most of my stars to some haloing, their general spectral color remained intact. Most importantly for this image, though, the galaxies came out good enough for me.
