Description

A few nights ago the auroras spent most of their time in the south sky, which they rarely do. At some point the auroras disappeared completely from my location as they went way too south for me. The people in southernmost Finland were having a good time I assume as they had a full-sky show for first time in years. The auroras eventually returned to the northern latitudes where I live and we had a really amazing full-sky coronal aurora show. There were also some fog in the sky.

The Bz-value of the interplanetary magnetic field dropped to -24nT and stayed there for a while (30min-1h). I had never seen such good value previously. The K-index of Kiruna, Sweden reached number of 8, which is just insane.

I think this image also works as a great example of showing how big the auroras actually are in size if you consider the lower end to be at the typical 100km altitude.
