Description

47 Tucanae (also known as NGC 104) is the second brightest globular cluster in the night sky, after the Omega Centauri cluster, and is one of the jewels of the southern hemisphere skies. It is located approximately 13,000 ly away from Earth and is about 120 ly in diameter. I usually capture 47 Tucanae along with the Small Magellanic Cloud, as the two objects are visually adjacent to each other, but this night I wanted to really hone in on the cluster itself to take advantage of the new moon and my newly purchased UV/IR cut filter. I hope you enjoy!
