Description

I've seen many times at CloudyNights questions & discussions about modding DSLR and purchasing filters. A lot of people answer "no do not bother, save your money and buy a dedicated cool mono astrocamera".

After a few months trying to capture DSO's, I've decided to modify my Canon 77D (for Ha) and also buy a 12nm Ha filter.

My opinion is: Yes, go for the modification and yes you need badly the Ha filter - especially all of you that you have sky Bortle 8-9 like me.

This is 7,5 hours of California nebula, with f2.8, ISO 800, with a big, big bright Moon just side by side. Look at those data!

Looking forward to add color data from SkyTech Triband now :-)

PS. Probably you will end up with a dedicated astro camera (mono or color) but I think that you have sooooo much to learn before that (for capturing and also post processing).
