Description

At a distance of about 500 million light years, this cluster contains about 200 galaxies. It has no large galaxy at its core. Its largest member is NGC 6040 (Arp 122), the topmost, distorted spiral within the central galaxies. Besides Arp 122 it also contains Arp 172 (lower right), Arp 71 (vertical spiral in the center) and Arp 272 (middle below center).

On my first outing with the new kit, one after the other, the following things failed to cooperate: The EAGLE Wifi connection (good a router was lying around),  the dovetail clamp (shock...), the motor focuser coupling (so this is manually focused, no mask), seeing  (went to 3"), clear skies (high clouds came up unexpectedly) and darkness (only 45' of astro darkness here currently). Bortle 4 helped a lot, though.
