Another Deep Sky West Data set--from the Rokinon wide field. I have never much been one for the wide filed lenses for some reason. Probably because resolution suffers in the images I have seen. One of the things I like to do with wide field shots is crop out stand alone FOVs. This is possible for larger sensors with smaller pixels. I have yet to see a wide field lens that holds up well enough to full resolution viewing to allow this--this image included. Maybe that would be solved with 2um pixels. I ended up binning the final version 2x2 in software to reduce the full resolution size. I don't think much meaningful resolution was lost since the resolution is pretty low anyway. Oh, yeah, this data set was drizzle integrated by DSW.

This image was tricky to process. This is an HaL(Ha)R(Ha) GB image. Inserting the luminance by itself did not look too appealing, even with a bit of Ha in the luminance. So in the end I added Ha as luminance to the LR(Ha)GB image. Kind of round about but it seems to have worked. I think this image has about 5 hours RGB (only 20 minutes of red though), 6 hours of lum, and 9.5 hours of Ha. All in all, I am pleased with the end result. For a while there I was not sure if I was going to be able to create an image worth posting

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
