Description

The Lagoon Nebula, Messier 8 (NGC 6523) is a lovely star-forming regions in the sky. It is a giant glowing cloud of interstellar gas, divided by a dark lane of dust, containing a cluster of young stars (NGC 6530) that have formed from it.

Messier 20 (NGC 6514 or Trifid Nebula), shows her characteristic three-lobes appearance. This object is in part, an open cluster of stars, an emission nebula, a reflection nebula, and a dark nebula that divides the emission nebula into it parts.

This is a recent image (July 2021) that I took at St. Malo, Manitoba in the company of my friends Dave M. and Kevin G, part of our pack of astro types.  I finally got round to processing this one. I processed it using Starnet ++ in Pixinsight, which of course removes all the stars, and helps to feature the nebulae.
This image features two nice summer nebulae - M8 and M20 - which I caught together using my widefield rig (70 mm triplet scope) - driving the exposure with ASIair pro (laptop free).

Mount: EQ6
