This object is a very faint planetary nebula located 7500 light years away in the constellation of Puppis at a declination of -35 degrees. This nebula spans almost 1 arc-minute in our apparent view, which corresponds to an actual diameter of 2 light years.

The nebula is circular and primarily OIII signal, so appears mainly blue in this image. As seen in many PN, the outside rim is slightly stronger in Ha and therefore has a reddish hue. Little structure is apparent to me for this PN.

This is a very faint object and I need to add more integration time in order to bring it more clearly into focus. Its faintness plus its low position in the southern sky makes it a tough object for many of us to capture, which is probably why I could no other images of this object except for the SIMBAD atlas image.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
