Description

M42 is one of the most visited objects in the sky and it is often my "go-to" object when I want to try out some new equipment or technique.
So last night I returned to M42 again to work on the workflow using different filters and electronic focuser.
As the moon was bright and close to M42 I didn't go beyond 120 sec per light frame and this morning I realized that my flats for that were useless.
So I did stack 55 light frames taken thry my Astronomik L-2, L-Pro and a experimental IR/UV-filter together with some bias and darks.

This stack is almost not processed at all after that - only some stretching - and I tried to see how and if I could enhance the core of the object.

It is obvious that I need to work on my focus-routine (the OTA was collimated in the beginning of the session) and I do need good flats.
The guidning wasn't perfect or even good (appr. 1,5") but that could be due to poor/quick polar alignment and the fact that the scope was standing on wooden decking.
