Description

I'm a big fan of larger sensors, but they tend to cost a zillion dollars. For years I didn't use my Canon 5D (classic) due to amp glow, then I remembered dark frames..which cured the problem. The older 5D doesn't have the pixel count, but the larger pixels really improved the dynamic range (the lower 800 iso helped) keeping much of the star color.

So here is my first go with a full frame. I'm hoping it will be a nice plus to the 135mm fl wider field shots, rather like using a wide field eyepiece that still has a fair amount of zoom.

Speaking of the 135mm lens. I must say I'm rather impressed with the resolution. The stars remained pinpoints all the way to the edge with the full frame sensor even with the lens wide open.

I also debuted my Onstep build for this setup. It was a steep learning curve and I am still by no means an electronics person, but once I got a formula worked out (with generous help from the forum) I just kept building the things. Pretty much all my mounts now have GoTo which in this case is really good since finding motors for these older Polaris mounts is nearly impossible.
