Description

This faint planetary nebula, also known as Kohoutek 1-7, is located 13000 light years away in the constellation of Orion at a declination of +7 degrees.  It spans only 30 arc-seconds in our apparent view, which corresponds to a diameter of 2 light years.

I like the scalloped look of the outer rim of HII, which surrounds the brighter OIII inner region.  Several faint void areas are seen along the PN rim.  The blue progenitor star is faintly visible at the center.
