Description

This Astrobin Debut Object is a small edge-on spiral galaxy located 35 million light years away in the constellation of Eridanus at a declination of -2 degrees.  It is a magnitude 12.4 galaxy which spans 4 arc-minutes in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a diameter of 40,000 light years.

Being close to us, this galaxy shows many colors in its yellow core, blue star clouds and purple HII regions.  The structure of the disk is hard to see at this angle.  Many dust lane fragments are seen and the outer disk is warped at the bottom.
