Description

Sh2-173 is a nebula in Cassiopeia constellation called the “Phantom of the Opera”. This name derives from its resemblance to a theatrical mask.

Physically this is a Ha region with a diameter of 77 light years, located at about 8800 light years away on the Perseus Arm, one of the greatest spiral arms of Milky Way in correspondence of the OB5 Cassiopeia association.
