Description

First time using ChileScope.  We originally intended to use our credits to capture Jupiter, Mars, and Saturn at opposition back in 2018 and then again in 2020, but every night we tried, the seeing did not cooperate and we had to cancel our sessions.   We then shifted our focus to capturing deep sky targets we are unable to image from the Northern Hemisphere.

Unsure what to use for exposure length and with no idea how many subs we'd need to make a decent image, we poked around Astrobin to see what everyone else was doing with ChileScope.  Unfortunately, it was hard to come up with a consensus solution since a lot of images didn't share their acquisition details.  Not wanting to waste valuable time, we ran a quick test with just three 10-minute subs (Original image). Despite our poor aiming (clipped right side of NGC 3324), we were floored by the 30-minute test.  Based on the test image, we improved our aim and elected to go with 3.5 hours (7x10 min subs for R, G, and B) of total integration time for the final image (Revision B).

If only we could get results like this from our backyard.
