Description

The Orion Nebula – My First Real DSO

After nearly four years, a lot of practice and testing, and waiting for over two mouths for the skies to clear, I finally obtained my first DSO. In my collections you might find other DSO but that was practice using others data.

On Sunday, February 2, 2020 I had two hours to set up, align, focus, and manually aim my camera to take 15 Lights, 5 Darks and 5 each of Flats, then take down to obtain the data necessary for this image. I threw out 3 of the Lights for the final image.

I used the equipment listed above and can be seen here:

Modified Canon T7i, Sigma 150-600 mm Telephoto lens, Aperture 90 mm, focal length 600 mm, f/6.3, SkyGuider Pro for mount.

It has been a long journey but worth every step. I did break from my general rule about the Moon, it was out that night at 56% but I didn’t even try to image it. I am excited for my next break in the weather and Clear Skies.
