Description

I know just what you are thinking:  "Oh Boy!  Another image of M31 to add to the thousands of other M31 images on Astrobin!"

LOL - well I feel your pain!  But I had to shoot this again and I am sure you have several copies of M31 in your portfolio as well!

This is is my third attempt as M31 and the first that was done with a scope that had a wide enough field to fit the entire galaxy into the frame.  It is also the first time I have shot it with a mono camera using standard LRGB but also with some Ha data to add a little zest.

This was drizzle processed to counteract the fact that the camera/scope combination is a little undersampled - so the image is pretty large.

This image is the result of just over 6  hours of wideband and narrowband data collected during the incredible stretch of weather we just had in western NY November 5-8, 2021. I ended up getting in 4 nights of capture on 3 scopes and collected data on 9 Targets!

This is the third image I have been able to process from this trove of data.

This was taken with my Askar FRA400 72mm F/5.5 astrograph, the IOptron CEM26 mount, and the ZWO ASI1600MM-Pro camera.

Full details on the capture and extensive processing notes for this image are available on my website at the link below:
