Description

As the nights get lighter and lighter, and I try to manage them, I obtained 100 Has, plus 86 RGBs, at 2 minutes and 30s respectively. I have fiddled around with this image no end, unsure of how red to make the Ha signal and so on and so forth, using various formulae and blends. Admittedly, I am not keen on my HaRGB images generally speaking, when there is a lot of hydrogen alpha across the field of view, because I am never sure that they look that natural to me. Maybe I am wrong, but I battle to get that natural sense with them, without overloading things. I think I prefer combining solely narrowband data together.

Anyway, here is IC 1311, which I have never taken before with an LBN and DWB objects in there,  plus Patchick 6 (DSH J2009.6+4114), a probable planetary nebula, discovered by amateur astronomer Dana Patchick. You can just about see it, it is directly south of the main cluster and to the right, or northwest of the star HD 228037. Imaging time was 4 hours and 3 minutes. As I joked once before, I am sure the 3 minutes made all the difference - it looked like a Hubble image before I added them in! Take care. Simon
