Description

Anteater Nebula, NGC6729, Caldwell 68

18/07/2022 Quattro 200mmF4 / EQ6Pro / ZWOASI294MC-Pro

161x60s120x-5degBin1 RGB with ZWOASI294MC

The most interesting portion is immediately below the two blue stars centrally.

N6729 is, according to wikipedia, the fan shaped Caldwell 68 nebula below the blue reflection nebula due to premain sequence R Coronae Australis (Binary B and Red Dwarf). And it is variable like Hubble's and Hind's variable nebulae! A star shining through dust like a lighthouse beam, changing on quite a short time scale.

The comma-shaped body beside it is even more interesting, It is HH100 (Herbig-Haro Object 100) and is caused when a narrow jet emitted from a newborn star hits nearby gas and dust at high speeds.

https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/physics-and-astronomy/herbig-haro-objects is an interesting article left side of page column about mechanisms.

HH111 shot by HST got a lot of publicity because so beautiful -https://www.sciencetimes.com/articles/33164/20210831/sword-heart-hubble-space-telescopes-wfc3-captures-herbig-haro-object-hh111.htm

I would love to try for more detail but I'm not sure my Celestron C8 is up to the job.

https://www.astrobin.com/mvjjb9/?nc=user is really interesting!!!! (53h RCOS 10"!!!!) COMMENTARY EXCELLENT

https://www.astrobin.com/7b7vi6/?q=HH100 is very sharp and impressive for 15h exposure.
