Description

Hello, our target is a not really often imaged nebula, it took long time to find a pleasant  colorimetry for it.NGC-3199 & Me-WE 1-2NGC 3199 is some 15,000 light-years away in the southern constellation Of Carina. It is also known as the Banana Nebula. This nebula measures some 75 light-years on the largest dimension of this false-color image evoking some ghostly apparition. Although the image reveals a more or less complete ring shape, the latter seems very unbalanced, the lower edge being significantly brighter. Near the center of the ring is a Wolf-Rayet star (WR 18 or HD 89358), a hot, life-long stellar object that generates intense stellar winds. Wolf-Rayet stars are known to form nebulae with original shapes when their powerful winds sweep through the surrounding interstellar material. In this case, it was previously thought that the bright edge of the nebula corresponded to a shock wave formed by the star tracing its course in a homogeneous medium, like the bow of a boat splitting the waves. But recent measurements have shown that the star is not moving directly toward the bright edge. So the most likely explanation would be that the surrounding material is actually not that homogeneous, but instead forms denser concentrations in the vicinity of the bright edge of NGC 3199.In the top left corner of the image, we can discern a bubble, it is the Planetary Nebula Me-WE 1-2 or PK283-01.2
