Description

I was amazed when I was this planetary nebula image from NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory and Hubble Space Telescope. It took much more time than I expected after realizing that I needed to add more data to get the HDR result for Cat's eye. PI's HDRComposition did a good job on the narrowband image. The color mapping is created equally from SHO and HSO. stars and background are from RGB.

Hope you like it and any C & C are welcome

Thanks,

Jian Yuan Peng

---- facts --

It is a planetary nebula in the constellation of Draco, discovered by William Herschel on February 15, 1786. The Cat's Eye was the first planetary nebula to be observed with a spectroscope by William Huggins on August 29, 1864. Huggins' observations revealed that the nebula's spectrum was non-continuous and made of a few bright emission lines. The first indication was that planetary nebulae consist of tenuous ionized gas ejected from red giant stars late in their lives.

NGC 6543 estimated between 3,300 and 5,300 light-years from Earth and estimated 1000±260 years in age.
