Description

NGC 2903 is a field barred spiral galaxy about 30 million light-years away in the constellation Leo. It was discovered by William Herschel who cataloged it on November 16, 1784. NGC 2903 has a very high rate of star formation in its central region. NGC 2905 is a bright star cloud within this galaxy.

This was my first attempt at a subject with high dynamic range. It took many hours of experimenting and iterating to show the detail in the galaxy core and the arms. I learned some things and made adjustments to my workflow which I think will help in future pics.
