Description

The new kid on the (lunar) block, Tycho is a young and relatively uneroded major crater 85 km wide and 4.8 km deep. Due to its good preservation, it is well studied to understand the mechanics of how craters form.

Have had numerous poor attempts at getting a reasonable Tycho image - this one turned out quite OK at last.

Lysterfield, Melbourne, 22-05-2021 (10.27pm).
Skywatcher 8 inch/f5 Newtonian. ASI1600mm (red filter).
