This nebula has some dramatic structures, but you have to travel to the interior to showcase them. The field of view here includes the eye-catching emission region NGC 6559 as well as the intricate dark regions of IC 4685 itself. This image was derived from the Ha and OIII channels, tone mapped in PixelMath. Using a fast F 3.6 telescope, I needed only 100 minutes of total integration time.
