Description

New Zealand is a wonderful place to be stuck given the chaos elsewhere, it has been our life raft.

NZ is even better because there are objects like these in the sky. This image uses the excellent new ZWO ASI6200 MM CMOS camera and the excellent Astro-physics QUADTCC 0.72 reducer on my LZOS-TMB 152mm triplet.

Although the QUADTCC is not specifically designed for the LZOS triplet, for my scope it works much better than the APM-Riccardi reducer (see my Ptolemy Cluster for comparison). The QUADTCC has 4 elements instead of 3 and unlike the Riccardi flattener, it flattens into the corners of the full frame ASI6200. Finding the right distance by experimentation was pretty easy (FWIW for my scope the optimal distance seems to be 99.5mm which surprising long given the scope's nominal focal length of 1200mm). The QUADTCC costs almost 3 times as much but for me it's worth it, at last I am happy .
