Description

van den Berg 152 is a reflection nebula at the end of the Bok globule with designation Barnard 175 and lies some 1400 light years away in the constellation Cepheus. Situated to the right of B175 is an arc of H-alpha emission from an ancient supernova remnant, SNR110.3+11.3. Below that is Dengel-Hartl 5 which is a HII- and OIII-region, ionized by the white dwarf WD 2218+706 (the blue star in the center of the nebula). Beverly Lynds catalogued the brighter portion of this as LBN 538. This object is thought to be an ancient planetary nebula that has been distorted by interactions with the interstellar medium.
