What's going on inside my observatory?

Acquisition type: Lucky imaging

Description

I am in the process of automating my observatory. I thought it would be useful to see what was going on inside during the remote captures. I was looking at cameras outside the dome, but I thought it would be a simple thing to set up one of my planetary cameras with an "all sky" lens on the desk. Even though it was pitch black inside, a 5 second exposure with the sensitive ZWO ASI 178MM gave me a good view of what was going on. I was able to monitor a meridian flip this way.

Anyway, the live feed was of course quite grainy, so for fun I videoed the scene and then processed the video as if it were a lunar image. The power of the lucky imaging approach was evident by the absence of noise and sharpness of the image. I hope you like it.

Note the stars and Milky Way through the slit.
