Description

This object is an emission nebula located 1000 light years away in the constellation of Perseus at a declination of 36 degrees. The nebula is 100 light years long. I am surprised that this bright popular nebula is not listed in either the Messier or Caldwell catalogs, or the followup Hidden Treasures and Secret Deep catalogs by O'Meara. I believe this is because it is so hard to see visually.

I find this to be a difficult narrowband object to process. I ended up using primarily Ha and SII, since the OIII contributed so little to the image detail.

I particularly like the wispy nature along the top edge of the nebula and the textures in the central region.
