Description

Captured using the T4 "Very Small Telescope" system at Chile Scope; a 135mm Samyang lens at f2, FLI Proline 16200 sitting on a 10 micron GM1000HP mount. Currently the image consists of 18x600 Ha subs and 9x600s Oiii subs, with another 9x600s Oiii subs on the way in the next few days.

A friend pointed out that the Oiii tendrils produce the outline of a silverback gorilla facing to the left of frame. I must say to me at least the resemblance is uncanny. Hence the name "Gorilla in the mist".

Edit - Someone else pointed out they could see Homer Simpsons face. But I'm sticking with the original name.

Description: Added another 2h 40 minutes of Oiii data. I also tried to make sure I didn't include any of the strange sharpening and noise reduction artifacts that appeared in the original.

The image currently consists of 18x600s Ha and 16x600s Oiii.

Taken with Chile Scope VST.

Description: SLightly increased the saturation and the hues, not sure if this is an improvement or not? Waiting on some more Ha data and hopefully going to form a 1x2 mosaic if time permits.
