Description

It has been 6 months since I photographed a nebula. The weather in addition to life in general have prevented me from doing any imaging except occasional solar imaging. It feels really good to back in the game with this whopper. I'm really happy with it!

This image of the Pelican Nebula consists of a total of 14.75 hours worth of data. I had to look back on my workflow notes for processing because I couldn't remember some of the steps I used before in Pixinsight. I also used Starnet 2 to process the stars and the nebula separately. I previously used Starnet v1 and Star Xterminator in my workflow, but Starnet 2 works so well that I was able to stretch the stars and nebula separate from each other. I used the SHO palette for the nebula and the HOO palette for the stars, which I believe gave me better star color than the magenta stars you get with a SHO combination.

Let me know what you think about the color combo. I didn't use DBE at all because I felt like there wasn't much gradient that I could see, plus there wasn't really much background to add points to for DBE. But I really like the color in this one.

Clear Skies,
Daniel
