Description

Hi all!

Here is a couple of galaxies in the Hunting Dogs constellation: NGC 4151 on the left (nicknamed the Eye of Sauron by amateur astronomers because of its particular shape) and NGC 4145 on the right, located respectively 45 and 46 million light years.

NGC4151 is a Seyfert-type spiral with a very bright core but extremely weak and difficult to image arms, especially in city, visible here as a diffuse ring surrounding the heart of the galaxy.

Exposures through a hydrogen filter made it possible to highlight the brightest regions of nebulae in these two galaxies, especially interesting on NGC 4145.

The small spiral galaxy NGC 4156 just next to the Eye of Sauron is located more than 300 million light years away! its apparent size is only 1 arc minute but the details it shows are still very pretty. It seems to be interacting with another small galaxy that it joins by a star trail that is barely visible, but present.

A multitude of other small and distant galaxies and clusters of galaxies populate the sky background of this very rich area, more visible on the full resolution version than on Facebook.

25h30 of acquisitions in Amiens (Bortle 7 sky) in March 2021 with RC8 telescope on Avalon Linear mount + ASI294mm camera.

L: 318x120s with focal reducer APx0.67 (1050mm)

RGB: 60x120s each

Halpha: 69x300s for NGC4151 and 39x300s for NGC4145 without focal reducer (1600mm)

Hope you like this cosmic couple, clear sky to everyone!
