Description

Messier 101 (NGC 5457), also known as the “Pinwheel Galaxy”, is a face-on spiral galaxy located in the constellation Ursa Major. It was discovered by French astronomer Pierre Méchain in 1781.

Distanced approximately 20.9 million light years from Earth, it is calculated having a diameter of about 170,000 light years and 1 trillion stars.
