Description

Wow! 2021 was a great year for astrophotography.  With my automated backyard rigs optimized, I imaged every night it was clear, partly clear, or promised to be clear: 144 nights total! Despite the light pollution both in the San Francisco Bay Area of California and Dayton, Ohio, I managed to produce some images I'm very proud of, both with narrowband filters and with just a light pollution filter.  Some other folks liked them too, apparently -- I won the first-ever Williamina Fleming Imaging Award from the Astronomical League!

A few trips out to a dark sky site in the Tahoe National Forest helped too! No major star parties for me this year (just Hidden Hollow, a small star party in Ohio, which always has bad weather), but 2022 holds the promise of several.  On the docket for 2022 is also a new telescope -- a Celestron EdgeHD 9.25, whenever it gets manufactured and shipped. More to come in 2022!
