Description

NGC 3198 is a barred spiral galaxy in constellation Ursa Major. Its diameter is about 11' and it is 47 million light years away. In the picture many quasars can be identified -they are recognizable as rather blue objects. The redshift reaches up to z=2.540, which gives a lookback time of 11.26 billion years.
