Description

This is the sixth in a series of nightscape images taken during a camping trip to Assateague Island State Park in Maryland. The state park is located on on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean with the campsites just over the sand dunes. The skies are Bortle ~4 and make for some fantastic skywatching and astrophotography. The moon was up during this trip so not ideal conditions for deep sky imaging, but I made the best of it with some nightscapes with the seashore nicely illuminated by the moon. This image was taken from the campsites looking across the dune towards the ocean in the East. The Pleiades (M45) are prominent at the center of the image with the California Nebula to their left. The Heart Nebula and Soul Nebula are faintly visible in Cassiopeia and M31 can just be seen to right. Along the right edge of the image is Mars.

Imaged using a Nikon D5300 (full spectrum modified), IDAS HEUIB-II (H-α Enhanced UV IR Blocking) filter, and 14 mm Rokinon lens at F2.8. Exposures were 20 seconds at ISO-1600. Noise reduction and sharpening using DeNoise AI.

Combined 35 subs using Sequator (composition = align stars/freeze ground, auto brightness=ON, HDR=ON, LP reduction = ON/uneven (intelligently agressive=OFF), enhance starlight=ON).
