Description

I finally got to image M100 this yea and actually ended up getting almost twice as much data as I had intended. It turned out to be a happy mistake (who ever complained about too much data?!).

Here's how I processed it:

each r, g and b:
dynamic crop

H:
dynamic crop
deconvolution
DBE
generalized hyperbolic stretch
starnet2
tgv denoise
curves for contrast

RGB:
channel combination
dynamic crop
deconvolution
DBE
PCC
generalized hyperbolic stretch
starnet2 (creating stars)
tgv denoise
LHE (2 scales)
NBRGBCombination in Ha
curves for contrast
MLT sharpening
pixel math in stars

I didn't feel the need to do star reduction. When adding in the H, I used a very low scale setting in NBRGBCombination so the H contribution is actually quite low here. I just wanted a hint of it as it wasn't showing HII regions but a general H-alpha glow along the spiral arms. When combined it didn't really add much but a reddish cast. I kept just a hint of it in the final image. The contribution is most evident in the core.
