Description

OK, I promise! The last lunar image out of this series.

This one is of another of the often imaged areas of the moon including Arzachel, Ptolomeus, Alphonsus and the Rupes Recta. In this image though, I find Alpetragius to be the star of the show with a sort of Ying and Yang effect.

With the really good conditions I had this particular night together with the right moon phase, Alpetragius really stands out well.

The processing is the the challenge for me with these lunar images. I'm really working to better use the wavelet sharpening in Registax and trying to better balance the contrast in the images. Add to that managing noise, it gets to really be somewhat of a process to get an image such that it is as good as the acquired data will support.

In the end, I am really happy with this one. If viewed at full resolution and even zoomed a bit, it seems to hold up really well and I think this is the best I've done with regard to resolving the fine details and really small craters. I hope you like it too!
