Description

This object, also known as IC 5015, is an unbarred spiral galaxy located 100 million light years away in the constellation of Microscopium at a declination of -32 degrees The galaxy spans 3 arc-minutes in our apparent view, which corresponds to a diameter of 90,000 light years. It is highly inclined to our line of sight.

I just pulled this one out of the sky atlas, so as you might guess, little information exists on this obscure object. The galaxy appears a bit asymmetric, with a dust smudge on the right side mid-disk, and a slight star stream on the lower right. Perhaps it had a brief encounter with a smaller object in the past.
