Description

Imaged on nights of 2021/2/6, 2021/2/7, 2021/2/11, 2021/2/18, 2021/2/19

Abell 27 (PK252.6+4.4) is an almost never imaged planetary nebula in Pyxis. This is only the third image on Astrobin. Abell27 is a small Abell, measuring 1.1 arc minutes and has a magnitude listed at 15.2. It shows dimly on the RGB image. The Ha signal is a little stronger than the Oiii signal. The Ha emission appears as a bipolar football shaped outer ring on two sides, with mixed inner area.

This Abell was a particular challenge for me because it transits at 21 degrees at my observatory in Taos, NM. This required 5 nights of imaging and many poor subs discarded. Well worth the effort though. It has some interesting detail.

My Abell Collection is here:

Abell Planetary Nebulae

Currently 60+, and soon to be complete.

This is everything I could find on the web about this PN. Very obscure.
