Description

This object is a beautiful barred spiral galaxy located 60 million light years away in the constellation of Ursa Major at a declination of +63 degrees. This magnitude 10.6 galaxy spans 7 arc-minutes in our apparent view, which corresponds to a diameter of 120,000 light years.

The blue star clusters and pink HII regions show up well in this nearby galaxy. I like the 2 strong galaxy arms. For some reason, the right arm stays intact a lot further than the left arm. The detail in the bar shows the presence of some HII regions. Overall, the galaxy looks somewhat disturbed but I don't see any likely companions in the vicinity.
