Description

Cyclone Fili has passed a few hours ago and on stepping outside to look at the moon and seeing the ring, I could not resist taking a few images.   3 x iso640 for 10s with Canon 6D and Rokinon 14mm at f5.  Aligned and stacked and processed in Photoshop.

Halos are caused by high, thin cirrus clouds drifting high above. Tiny ice crystals in Earth's atmosphere create the halos. They do it by refracting and reflecting the light. Lunar halos are signs that storms are nearby.
