Description

Just off the path of the gigantic Vela supernova remnant you will find Gum 10 (RCW 19), a beautiful emission nebula that very few astrophographer seem to be paying attention to .

There are only a hand full of pictures on this on Astrobin.  The first time I saw this object was thanks to @Jacob Heppell and ever since then I wanted to give this shot myself. We both seem to have the similar taste in colour palette... so both our images have a similar look....

I originally wanted to go for a wider field of view to give the target more context and negative space... unfortunately I made a mistake when capturing my light frames and there was a framing mismatch between my Ha and my Sii and Oiii frames which forced to to crop the image heavily and loose about 30% of the frame. . There is no time for me to spend shooting some more Ha as I need to move on to other targets this season... and the weather has not been the best....

There was quite a few bright stars in this image which triggered the good old micro lensing effect on my 1600mm... so I had to do a little bit of surgery and used star spike pro to bring back some of the colour hue around a couple of the big bright stars

This image is an SHO combination with RGB stars with the hydrogen shifted to the reds within the SHO palette
